Overview

The Cody Police Department employs volunteers in a variety of positions. Volunteers help the Cody Police Department meet its goal of improving the quality of life in Cody by providing additional problem solving partnerships with the community. Volunteers supplement and support the work of police personnel, rather than replace sworn officers and civilian personnel. Volunteers play an integral role in the department’s ability to serve the public.

Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS) Program

The Cody Police Department Volunteer Program is based on the Volunteers In Police Service Program. The Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS) Program is a national program which provides support and resources for law enforcement agencies interested in developing or enhancing a volunteer program and for community members who wish to volunteer their time and skills with a community law enforcement agency.
